February 10, 2019: We heard from someone who was ripped off by Kevin in the car import scam, so he's still at it. He has also been using the name Kevin Hughes.
January 27, 2019: We haven't heard much from this asshole for awhile now. Does anyone know if he's changed his name, in jail, or better yet....dead?
October 3, 2015: Kevin continues to be an asshole and bastard, and gets himself closer to the doors of Hell. He sold a good person a vehicle which, unbeknownst to them, had payments owing on it. Ultimately the vehicle was repossessed so the person lost both the payments to Kevin and the vehicle.
July 7, 2015: We received a VERY nice note via the Contact Form from one of Kevin's victims. Due to privacy issues we will not go into any detail of the note, or of the incident, but suffice it to say that the person is extremely grateful that this site exists. To the person who sent the note, and you know who you are, this site is dedicated to good people like you. Kevin, we will tell you what the person is too polite to say...GO FUCK YOURSELF. For the rest of your lives nothing but misery will follow you and your bitch. It is a shame that your kids have a monster of a father like you. Do you think they won't google you one day, if they haven't already, and know everything that's said about you? Guess again.
July 5, 2015: This site hasn't been updated for awhile but Kevin is still at it. Don't worry, we will not go away and this site will stay up forever. Thank you for your donations to keep it up and for passing around the ownership. Scam total 2010-2014: $281,510. 3 new victims in month of June so KEVIN is back at it. April/May was quiet. His scams have gotten smaller, he's back to $500-1000 reno and vehicle purchase scams. November 30, 2014: Someone pointed us to an episode of Doc Zone called The Psychopath Next Door. You can watch it at http://www.cbc.ca/doczone/episodes/the-psychopath-next-door. It is clear that Kevin fits this description of a non-violent psychopath. Many psychopaths are highly skilled at mimicking normal human emotion, using charisma, manipulation and intimidation to satisfy their own needs. The Psychopath Next Door provides a chilling and provocative examination of those in our midst who act without conscience. Kevin is clearly a psychopath and the more people that know it, the better.
November 15, 2014: Court records updated to DSP (disposition). Disposition means THE RESULT OF THE APPEAL, so the slimeball is likely trying to appeal. Final sentencing on December 3rd. It would be a great Christmas present for him to be behind bars and served up as a present for another inmate.
November 12, 2014: Kevin was supposed to have shown up in Surrey Provincial Court this morning at 9:30 for sentencing. It's not yet known whether he showed up, or if he did, what the sentence was.
October 24, 2014: Kevin can face criminal charges for Impersonation with Intent, which is a criminal charge based on using a fake name to mislead someone, or make gains by using an alias. If Kevin gave a name to you other than his real name of Kevin McDermott, e.g., Kevin Taylor, Evan McCarthy, etc., please email KEVINMUSTPAY@LIVE.COM with your info. Also, you can request the names of a lawyer and an RCMP officer who are compiling a case against Kevin, so tell them your story and it will strengthen their case. We are not posting their info on this site because we do not want to publicly advertise their names, positions, and contact info without their permission. You reading this Kevin? The noose is tightening, you asshole. Your time and your options are running out.
October 7, 2014: Kevin did not appear in court as ordered. He likes to snub his nose at the law. Let's see how far it gets him.
September 28, 2014: It is confirmed that Kevin is out of jail on bail.
September 26, 2014: There are conflicting reports as to whether or not Kevin is still in jail. If he isn't, hide your women and children.
September 24, 2014: Kevin's next court appearance is Oct 6th 1:30pm in Court Room 102. This is for sentencing of another crime.
September 23, 2014: The RCMP has confirmed that Kevin is in custody. However, the sheriff advised that in order for papers to be served, Kevin himself would have to agree to see the person serving. Any suggestions as to get around this technicality would be greatly appreciated. If someone sends us a valid response, we will post it for everyone.
September 22, 2014: Kevin McDermott, was arrested Friday September 19, 2014 at 7:20 pm at his wife's rental house in Surrey. He is now in jail, for anyone who wants to serve him. Present the court papers to the jail/prison administration in Surrey Pretrial Service Center - 14323 57 Ave, Surrey, BC, they will serve the paper on the inmate. Do it quickly. Also note that Kevin has his victims pay him by cheque made out to M. Govan. M. GOVAN. M. GOVAN. BLAIR GOVAN. BLAIR GOVAN.

Also, someone wrote us to say that he scammed another person and he is driving their Blue Grand Caravan under this plate : 684 MNL insured until December 5, 2014.
September 1, 2014: Kevin now also uses the alias KEVIN TAYLOR. We will repeat the name KEVIN TAYLOR for reasons of search engine optimization. Kevin McDermott now uses the alias Kevin Taylor. Beware of a person named Kevin Taylor who is actually the scammer Kevin McDermott.
June 24, 2014: Some good news to share. The boat referenced in the April 22 post below has been returned to its rightful owner, thanks to another person who contacted us with info, and who we then introduced to the boat owner. Well done boys. On another note, The Vancouver Sun published an article today about another con man who obviously scammed the wrong person. Karma?

INTRODUCING KEVIN MCDERMOTT
Kevin McDermott has cheated and defrauded innocent people of tens of thousands of dollars, and probably more. Kevin McDermott's modus operandi is to gain your trust and ask you for advance payments for whatever scheme he is pulling, and then he does not hold up his end of the bargain and takes off with your money. The law-enforcement people (for example, the RCMP if you lived in Canada) does not regard his actions as criminal because he has not actually stolen money by force from his victims. They consider it a "contract dispute" so the only recourse is to try and get your money back by going through the court system. Kevin McDermott knows this, and he moves residences every few months so it is difficult to serve him with court papers, although some people have been successful. Kevin McDermott deserves to be in jail for his actions. The purpose of this site is to continue to shine light on Kevin McDermott's fraud activities so other people can be warned about him.
WHO ARE WE?
We are a group of Kevin McDermott's victims who have been in contact with each other to share stories and information, and who have created this website composed of our collective knowledge to ensure that the word continues to get out about Kevin McDermott, and will not be removed until he pays back what he owes to every one of his victims.
Note that Kevin McDermott is a very smooth talker, as most scammers are. He comes across as a nice, honest man and is very convincing that nothing is out of the ordinary. Do not believe his lies or you do so at your own peril.
KEVIN MCDERMOTT'S SCAMS
RENTAL SCAM - Plain and simple. Kevin McDermott does not pay his rent and then moves every few months.
CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTOR SCAM - Kevin McDermott asks for up-front payments before starting work, or payments for materials/equipment that never shows up and the progress slows down. Eventually the work stops completely, leaving the client with uncompleted work and the advance payments are never returned.
CONTRACTOR HIRING SCAM - Plain and simple. Kevin McDermott hires sub-trades for his construction work and does not pay them in full, or at all.
CAR IMPORTING SCAM - Kevin McDermott claims to be able to import cars at a discount price and then sell them at a profit. He gathers advance payments from you, acting as a partner, and then the vehicles never show up. He then keeps any payments made to him.
PAYMENT SCAM - In lieu of payment that clients/partners may owe him, Kevin McDermott has accepted large ticket items such as boats or trucks. Kevin McDermott then doesn't fulfill his end of the contract and keeps the items.
VEHICLE SELLING SCAM - Plain and simple. Kevin McDermott advertises vehicles for sale, takes the payment and then doesn't deliver the vehicle.

Another name for someone who selflessly helps others. This term originates from the parable told by Jesus in the Bible about a Samaritan (a man from a country called Samaria) who helps out a Jewish man who is ambushed by the ives and left to die. This was all the more selfless of an act considering that the Jewish and Samaritan people in those times usually did not associate with each other. This story was told in response to a question concerning the scriptural mandate to "love thy neighbor as thyself". According to the story, a man asked "Who is my neighbor?" and the moral of the parable is that everyone is really your neighbor (meaning you should help anyone you see in need). Today a Good Samaritan is usually someone who goes out on a limb to help others, even if they are complete strangers.
